Rated PG - Mild Themes & Animated Violence. Would not recommend for kids under 6.

Everything is NOT awesome in the The Lego Movie 2 : The Second Part but as this sequel shows it ok for it things to be not awesome all of the time it's how you deal with it that can be awesome. Following directly on from the end of the first Lego Movie we see new characters appear, Duplo ones as Finn’s sister Bianca joins him in the basement where the Lego world is. The new characters seem to start destroying everything. Jumping to 5 years later and a Lego world, now called Apocalypsburg, which is definitely less than awesome for those living in it.

Filled with pop music, characters who we all know & love, funny lines for adults & other funny moments for the kids The Lego Movie 2 : The Second Part is entertaining. Not quite as entertaining as the first one it won't have you on the edge of your seat in suspense or falling of it from laughing but it does land a few hilarious moments. With some of its best scenes coming from just how self-aware it is about the trying times parents have with their kids & the kids toys. For anyone who has had to deal with the fun of trying to walk while there is Lego all over the floor look out for a very relatable moment towards the end.

With a storyline that is a very slightly darker than the first film it’s a great opening to talk to your pre-teen kids about life, hope, forgiveness, knowing who they are no matter what & learning how to deal with life when it feels a lot less than awesome. Also a great film for any siblings struggling to find a way to still connect with each other as they get older.

As the updated, and much more realistic, version of the Everything is Awesome now called the Everything is not Awesome song says:

"Everything's not awesome But that doesn't mean that it's hopeless and bleak Everything's not awesome But in my heart, I believe

We can make things better if we stick together Side by side, you and I, we will build it together (Yeah, we'll be together) Build it together (Together forever) All together now"

In this social media driven, everything looks awesome online but is not realistic, world this is a reminder I could do with every now & then. And certainly a lesson that we should keep teaching kids! The Logo Movie 2: The Second Part is a great way to get them engaged in the topic.

Out in Cinemas on the 21st March 2019.
