Fringe World | What I've loved so far

A week of Fringe World shows have now delighted Perth so I thought it was time to give a shout out to the shows I thoroughly enjoyed & a few I can’t wait to see.

The big surprise for me last year & this is that Fringe has plenty of shows for families & kids! I’ll admit in the past I always thought of Fringe as the arts festival for adults with all 18+ shows but it really is a wonderful festival for all of Perth.

With over 700 shows during Fringe there is something for everyone. What I have discovered is that one of the best parts of fringe is the atmosphere & vibrancy it brings to Perth. Expanding out to Yagan square this year & with 101 free family friendly things to do at The Woodside Pleasure Garden the atmosphere is energising & sure to entertain all ages.

I had the privilege of seeing a sneak peek a week ago of the Djuki Mala Dance Company. There really is just one word that comes to mind, the same word I have heard over & over from others who have seen their show. It is WOW!

This award winning indigenous dance company had us laughing, amazed by the creative routines & the high energy, fun, at times cheeky, energy. This is the last chance to see this show as they are working on new material for next year so I recommend getting in to see them ASAP before they sell out.

Their show is at the Woodside pleasure Garden so if you can I suggest heading along to The Splash Zone to see the Mermaids as well, they will have you (and the kids) mesmerised.

Soak up the energy in the Garden area along with some wonderful food trucks (Fish Boss is a personal favourite of mine) & roving kid’s entertainers.

For the slightly older kids & those of us who love comedy The Clean Comedy Lounge is fantastic.

With a great line up of local & international comedians you get a taste of the comedy shows out without having to worry about things the kids shouldn’t hear. With Matt Storer, who you may know from his chats last year with the Drive show, as MC you’ll be smiling right from the start.

With shows in both Perth City & Fremantle The Clean Comedy Lounge is a great family outing that even the teenagers will enjoy.

This weekend and next week I"m really looking forward to seeing some more great shows including:

The almost sold out Eggs by a new talent born & raised in Perth. Get in quick to get tickets for this Friday's show!

Acoustic Sessions @ Fremantle Church showcasing some of the amazing local musicians we have in Perth.

Buzzy Beats Silent Disco Walking Tour, with 90s & 00s music, flash mobs & the chance to dance around the city with others who love dancing as well it sounds like the perfect way to get a workout in over the weekend!

Did you Hear what I saw? Great way to introduce or expand the kids views of improv while showing them a great friendship through even the craziest of things.

Hope you get to go out and enjoy what Perth, and Fringe World, had to offer while the weather is just gorgeous. and if you do see some shows let me know what you think of this years Fringe World!
